The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Wednesday, October 3 to Thursday, October 4.
Wednesday, October 3
7:29 a.m.: An xpedx truck pulled into the parking lot of Dinette World along with a Teamsters Union Local vehicle. Words were exchanged, but both vehicles left the area without further incident.
7:34 a.m.: On Lords Court, a vehicle was broken into overnight.
11:22 a.m.: An Andover Street caller reported that two males were taking items off of his property. A 49-year-old Saugus man and a 46-year-old Chelsea man were summonsed for larceny over $250 and malicious destruction of property less than $250. Andover Police towed their vehicle from the scene and will file charges of their own.
4:14 p.m.: On Middlesex Ave., a hit and run occurred in the parking lot with one driver denying hitting the other driver’s car. A 23-year-old Andover woman was summonsed for leaving the scene of property damage.
Thursday, October 4
7:27 a.m.: Two callers at Shell on Main Street reported that while they were at the drive thru at Dunkin Donuts a male party on strike at xpedx cursed at numerous vehicles as he exited on foot.
9:01 a.m.: Officers at xpedx called for an ambulance to respond to the Main Street business. An officer followed the ambulance to Winchester Hospital, as the patient was under arrest. Ralph Gerald Smith, 78, of 24346 Maxwell Street in Parksley, Virginia, was charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, failing to stop for police and reckless operation of a motor vehicle after hedrove through the picket line and narrowly avoided the officers working detail.
11:46 a.m.: A Dorothy Ave. caller reported that her father wrote a check for $1,500 to a person claiming that he won the lottery. The caller stated that the involved party was supposed to arrive at the house today for an additional payment.
