Marathon Bomber To Be Arraigned In Middlesex County For Slaying of Sean Collier

Accused Boston marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will stand trial in Middlesex County for the Cambridge murder of Wilmington native and MIT police officer Sean Collier, according to the Boston Globe.

At Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn on Wednesday, prosecution obtained a warrant for Tsarnaev to arraign him on murder charges in the death of Collier, according to the Globe. 

Tsarnaev, 20, of Cambridge, was indicted by a county grand jury in June in the murder of Collier on April 18, according to the Globe.

Obtaining the warrant was a procedural matter to ensure Tsarnaev is eventually arraigned in state court, although he most likely won't appear in a Middlesex County court until his federal trial is over, according to the Globe. 

Dzhokhar and his brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed during a confrontation with police in Watertown on April 19, are alleged to have created a pair of bombs that exploded at the Boston Marathon finish line April 15 killing three and wounding hundreds. 

Tsarnaev was arrested on April 19, after a 24-hour-long standoff with police. After his arrest, he was held in a hospital to recuperate from wounds sustained during his capture and was later transported to a military prison in Fort Devens.
