High Winds Bring Power Lines Down in Wilmington

Police responded to several reports of downed wires around Wilmington Sunday afternoon.

Wilmington Police responded to several calls reporting power lines down Sunday afternoon due to high winds in the area.

Officers responded to Cabot Street for a tree down on wires that brought the utility pole and a street light down with it, according to the Wilmington Police twitter account.

Cabot Street was blocked while the Department of Public Works and Reading Municipal Light Department worked to clear the scene.

Earlier in the afternoon, an officer responded to Wisser Street to find a large branch blocking the roadway.
