Calls came in after 11 p.m. for an "extensive brush fire," and North Reading firefighters were called to assist.

Butters Road is located off of Main Street. One firefighter said over the scanner just before midnight that crews were "all around" the area of the fire with two lines running.

At 11:53 p.m., correspondence came across the airwaves that the fire was expected to be extinguished within about one hour.

It's unclear at the time how far the flames spread, or if any homes in the area impacted. Check back with Wilmington Patch for details as they become available.
