Baby Ducks Rescued From Storm Drain in Front of Wilmington Plaza

Police, DPW workers and concerned citizens helped make the rescue possible.

Not everything was ducky for a group of birds as they attempted to cross Main Street in Wilmington. But the young feathered creatures turned out to be lucky ducks after a group of good citizens came to the rescue.

The Wilmington Police Department Facebook page posted that on Wednesday afternoon, a motorist called to reported that several baby ducks had fallen into a storm drain in front of Wilmington Plaza.

Police said that the ducks made it across four lanes of Main Street traffic before they took the plunge.

But the story had a happy ending. Members of the Department of Public Works joined other concerned residents to rescue the ducks and reunite them with their mother.
