The Mom Juggling Act

The importance of planning ahead.

This week I found myself totally inspired by and her plan to “Take Back Sundays.” Yes, by the way, us PATCH writers really do read, and often admire each other’s work.

Whether you work full-time, part-time, work in the home or outside of it, motherhood is a daily juggling act and the key to success is scheduling and, as Sheila suggested, planning ahead.

Just like Sheila I consider roasted chicken one of my best friends. For that matter anything that can be “reinvented” as leftovers during the week is a good choice as far as I’m concerned.

Sunday’s tacos often lead to Monday’s taco pie and a single ham dinner without leftovers for ham casserole would be a waste in my mind. A big favorite for me is a freezer filled with homemade meatballs and sauce that I can pull out and defrost for a fast meal whenever I need to.

On that same note a quick trip to any department store proves that marketing to moms and their busy schedules really is the key to success. Shelves are stocked time savers and shortcuts all meant to promise busy moms an easier way.

Cleaning wipes, faster floor sweepers, toilet wands, and even self cleaning shower sprays are proof that the first thing on most moms minds is saving time. Some of these work well, some not so well and some are simply put, useless.

They key is, I suppose, finding shortcuts and tricks that, not only save time, but work well without costing a small fortune.  As usual, balance is key and finding that happy medium makes all the difference in the world.

As for Sheila’s suggestion to reclaim Sundays I took it to heart. I finished this weekend feeling rather accomplished with laundry folded, a couple of articles are written and leftovers for the week.
