Woodbriar of Wilmington Resident Spent Decades as Clerk for IRS

Veronica Ann Mehard, 89, enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing and traveling.

The following is an obituary courtesy of Farmer and Dee Funeral Home.

Veronica Ann (O'Connor) Meharg, age 89, a resident of Tewksbury for 59 years, formerly of South Boston, passed away at the Woodbriar of Wilmington on Thursday, May 15, with her family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of Paul E. Meharg, who passed away on March 21, 1970.

Born in Boston on January 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Patrick "Charles" O'Connor and the late Anna (Harrington) O'Connor.

Veronica was raised in South Boston and graduated from the Gate of Heaven Parochial High School in 1942. Following graduation, she attended Bentley College, where she earned her B.S. Degree in Accounting.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed for over 30 years as a Clerk by the Internal Revenue Service and as an Office Manager at the Oblate Novitiate in Tewksbury.

Veronica was a communicant of St. William's Parish, where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality.

She enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing, traveling to Ireland, Germany, Denmark and Italy.

Veronica is survived by five children, Karen M. Morrison and her husband John of Wakefield, Kenneth C. Meharg and his wife Becky of Tewksbury, Patricia A. Sennott and her husband Richard of Derry, NH, Janice L. Ouellette and her husband Paul of North Andover, and Mary E. Meharg of Tewksbury; nine grandchildren, Heidi Meharg Reinhart and her husband David, Kenneth Meharg, Jr. and his wife Lindsey, Erin and Caitlin Morrison, Kelly and Caroline Sennott, Katherine, Jacqueline, and Matthew Ouellette; two great grandchildren, Catherine and David Reinhart; one sister, Louise Healey and her husband John of Scituate; one brother, James O'Connor of S. Boston; her sisters-in-law, Betty Jane Meharg of Lynn and Martha O'Connor of Needham; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Veronica was the sister of the late Robert, Charles, Paul, Theresa and Marie O'Connor, and sister-in-law of the late Doris O'Connor and William Meharg.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Oblate Novitiate, 486 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.
