Wilmington Woman Recalled for Caring Nature, Unconditional Love

Rose Mary Murphy of Wilmington worked at TD Bank North for many years before retirement.

The following is an obituary courtesy of Nichols Funeral Home.

Rose Mary (Lindquist) Murphy, age 72, of Wilmington, died peacefully on April 18, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Rose Mary was born on March 15, 1942, in Malden. She was the dear daughter of the late Gunnar “Wally” and Mary (Adamo) Lindquist. Rose Mary was raised and educated in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School.

Rose Mary married her “best friend” James J. Murphy in June of 1967, sharing nearly 47 years of marriage and raising a wonderful family. Rose Mary and James lived in Revere for many years before moving to Wilmington in October of 1994.  Rose Mary loved her home and was dedicated to raising her family; they always came first in her life.  

As a mother, Rose Mary was second to none; she was always there to support her children throughout school and at their sporting events, she was their biggest fan.

When Rose Mary became “Nana” to Christopher and Maria, her life became more enriched, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and spoil them; they were the light of her life.

Prior to retiring, Rose Mary worked at TD Bank North for many years, her kindness to her co-workers and customers earned her many friendships throughout the years.

In her spare time, Rose Mary enjoyed shopping, going out to coffee or lunch with her girlfriends, and reading a good book. She cherished the time spent with family and good friends, holiday celebrations, and many vacations over the years.

Rose Mary will be remembered for her caring nature, her unconditional love, her strength during adversity and illness, and for her big heart.  She was truly an amazing lady who will be dearly missed.

Rose Mary was the beloved wife James J. Murphy, devoted mother of Patricia Palladino and her husband Anthony of Litchfield, NH, Laura Murphy of Wilmington, and Paul Murphy and his wife Shari Ann of Rochdale, MA, loving “Nana” of Christopher and Maria Palladino, cherished daughter of the late Gunnar “Wally” and Mary (Adamo) Lindquist, dear sister of Shirley Svenson of Malden, Paul Lindquist of Salem, and Francis Lindquist and his wife Diane of Ipswich, sister-in-law of Harold and Louise Murphy of Revere. Rose Mary was also very special to Anthony Palladino of Everett and is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers donations in Rose Mary’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA  01701.
