Obituary: Arthur J. Moscufo, 64, Medford Firefighter and Wilmington Resident

Moscufo was a Medford firefighter from 1980 until the time of his death.

Arthur J. Moscufo, 64, of Wilmington, died suddenly on Sunday, March 23, 2014.

Beloved husband of Pamela (Chamberlain) Moscufo. Proud and devoted father of Arthur C. Moscufo of Medford, Arlene Poeck and her husband Thomas of Wilmington and Annette Moscufo of Medford. Cherished grandfather of Nicholas and Natalie Poeck.

Born in Boston on Dec. 21, 1949, Arthur attended St. John’s Elementary School and Christopher Columbus High School. He served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army C/227 Aviation Battalion of the 1st Air Cavalry Division during his tour in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 2, 1971. Arthur joined the Medford Fire Department on April 17, 1980 and was an active member of the department at the time of his death. His gentle kindness, easy demeanor and dry, every ready sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Arthur is also survived by his siblings, James Moscufo, Maria Moscufo and Anne Giantonio, all of Revere; by his uncle, Joseph Interrante; by his cousins, Joseph Interrante, Roseann Panico, Julia Interrante and Roselle Interrante; by his sisters-in-law, Susan Galante (William) and Kathleen Taffel (William); and by his nieces and nephews, Lisa Callery (Rick), James Moscufo and James and Jessica Giantonio. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Rose (Interrante) Moscufo; by his sister-in-law, Mary Moscufo and by his brother-in-law, Anthony Giantonio.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden, on Friday, March 28, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 27, from 4-8 p.m. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
