Wilmington Sons Of Italy Hold their Annual Children's Christmas Party

December 8th  the  Sons  Of Italy  held their  Children's Party at the  Knights  of Columbus Hall  in Wilmington. About 100 children came with their parents to  enjoy  snowmen and ornament making, cookie  decorating, wall hangings and many other crafts. Also  the  families enjoyed pizza, cupcakes and beverages. What is a Christmas  party though  without a visit from the  big man up north? Well Santa did not disappoint the  boys and girls! Santa, despite his busy schedule,  managed to  lend  us a few hours of his time to visit with the boys and girls and after checking his  naughty and nice list, handed presents, took pictures, and stayed and chatted with the children and their parents. Even some children of the Medicare group  had pictures with good St.Nick.
The Wilmington Sons  of Italy is an organization, for  people of Italian  heritage who come together  not only to  keep alive their  rich  heritage,  but also  to  help the community. The  Wilmington  Sons  of Italy, through the Philanthropic  Roncalli Trust, has donated  in excess  of $800,000 to the schools, churches, and the  people  of Wilmington. The  donations have gone to such things as band  and sports  uniforms, new scoreboard for the high school, tables and chairs for churches in the town, scholarships  to those going to  college and graduate school, and to many charities in the  town.
