The Black Falcon Pier, was the scene this week of the second annual "Battle Of The Burger ", and local restaurant owner Paul Malvone, was among the finalist competing for the title of best burger maker in Boston and a trip to Miami ,for the national championship, sponsored by Rachael Ray.
Paul Malvone who with Charles Solari and Sebastino Freca own the Popular restaurant in Somerville and Boston "Boston Burger Company . went to the "Battle of the Burger" as defending champion, hoping to repeat their success with this year entry the Vermonster. They competed against other burgers with such names as O.F.D ( Only From Dorchester), the entry of Wahlburgers and Chef Paul Wahlberg, who is the Brother of Danny Wahlberg and Mark Wahlberg both well known actors, or the Sin Burger from the Blue OX, AbbyLanes 5 napkin burger, as well as seventeen other burger bastions that fought for the title of Best Burger In Boston.
The Battle of the Burger which sponsored by Boston Magazine and Amstel beer , and this year attracted a crowd of about 5000 people, who paid anywhere from $75.00 to $105.00 to listen to rock music and walk among the burger battlers, and eat as many as the burgers they could, then vote for the winner, a daunting but fun task.
This year the disappointed staff placed 4th just being edged out of third place by only a few votes but owners Paul, Sebby and Chuck vow to return to take back their crown next year .
