Results Are in from Wilmington's Annual Town Election

With just two races and only one of them contested, it was a slow day at the polls on Saturday.

The unofficial results are in from Town Hall on a slow Election Day in Wilmington.

Judy O’Connell and Mike McCoy were each re-elected to the Board of Selectmen in uncontested races. O'Connell received 875 votes while 830 voted for McCoy, according to Town Clerk Sharon George.

Three candidates were vying for two spots on the School Committee, as incumbent Ginny Bonish and competitors Steve Bjork and Donna Leone each were on the ballot.

Voters selected Bjork and Bonish for the School Committee seats, with Bjork topping the ticket.

In total, Bjork received 880 votes, while 795 voters selected Bonish and Leone was in third with 309 votes.

Just under 7 percent of registered voters came to the polls with about 1,100 votes cast.

Bonish, McCoy and O'Connell were each sworn in on Saturday night, while Bjork was unable to be at Town Hall when the results were read due to a prior commitment, according to Wilmington Apple.
