Wilmington's public beach is a great place to spend a summer day. There is plenty of parking for visitors and lots of beach space to put down a blanket or lawn chair.
The beach can be found by taking Grove Street off of Main Street near the Tewksbury town line.
The beach also features indoor restrooms and changing areas, a volley-ball net, picnic tables and a playground for the kids.
Silver Lake is open this year through Sunday, Aug. 14. Lifeguards from the Wilmington Recreation Department are on duty from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The beach is free for Wilmington residents and non-residents pay $5 per person.
Silver Lake is tested weekly from Memorial Day through Labor Day by the Wilmington Board of Health.
