Imagine my surprise to see my face in the Patch this morning. I volunteer at the Book Store Next Door to hlep bring funds to the library for all their great programs. It also lets me meet many wonderful people from Wilmington and the surrounding area. I enjoy my three hour shifts. I also volunteer at my son's school, Shawsheen Elementary. I help in the clasroom, the library, the PAC, the SAC, and where ever else I can lend a hand. I feel that my small part is helping the teachers and staff give my son a better education. And I love hearing all the "Hi Mrs. Toth" in the hallways.

Since I was a part of the WCTV Youth Outreach program, I've been a WCTV volunteer. Volunteers are responsible for all of the programming that airs on Wilmington Community Television, and the station is always looking for more. I always enjoy going around taping town events and meeting new people. In some ways, it feels like I'm contributing to the preservation of Wilmington's history, keeping a permanent record of the town's culture. Right now, WCTV is looking for volunteers who would be particularly interested in taping events at Wilmington High School--such as sports, plays, and other major activities. Without volunteers these programs will not be available for viewing and will not be on the channel. Volunteers can also earn community service hours for the high school graduation requirement and NHS membership. For more information about volunteering with WCTV email wctv@wctv.org. Thank you to all of those who have volunteered with WCTV in the past and continue to do so today.

If anyone is ever interested in volunteering at the Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library's Book Store Next Door, contact me at rob.hayes@live.com. With the help of great volunteers like Rachelle, we've raised more than $80,000 for our library over the past 4+ years -- one book at a time.
