PHOTOS: Hurricane Sandy in Wilmington

Upload your photos of Hurricane Sandy's damage in Wilmington, but remember to only take photos when it's safe to do so.

It's official. Hurricane Sandy is upon us.

Wilmington residents around town are beginning to report power outages, and a large pine tree fell on top of a truck early this afternoon, trapping the driver.

We want to see your photos of the damage left behind by this massive storm. All you have to do is upload them directly to this article and provide any details you can in the caption.

But most importantly, remember to only take photos when it's safe to do so.

The people of Wilmington should be awakened by this storm to the impacts of extreme conditions especially the large volume of water that has to go somewhere. The proposed new High school has a storm water drainage system proposed to be built directly beside the oil spill area(the oil that is in fact still in the ground). This storm is a perfect example of what a massive magnitude of water will be dumped into soil beside an oil spill. Oil is lighter than water and floats on water. Dissolved phase petroleum is also a critical issue. A disaster waiting to happen if the people of Wilmington don't rise up in protest and stop this colossal, irresponsible mistake. Wilmington should be reminded that the current building was also built to be a fallout shelter. You don't knock down a structurally sound building when there are other places to build a school at about half the price.

Just for clarification, Kevin, Wilmington has not had any reported issues with water that I have heard of. The town's problems related to the hurricane have been due to high winds.

Kevin it appears you really don't like Wilminton and or the people in it , why don't you MOVE out of town. 99% of the people who live here don't like you. 99% would stand along the roads an say goodby to you.

Matt, The water becomes an issue if the High School is knocked down and a drainage system is constructed DIRECTLY beside the oil spill. LOOK at the plans for the school, specifically the storm water drainage plans, you will see what irresponsibility is all about. Please do this and report back the TRUTH to the Patch society.

I agree with Kevin. I hope they rethink this whole thing. Isn't this article for uploading pictures of the storm. Anyways Thank you Kevin for doing your JOB and keeping a close eye on what is best for the town of Wilmington.
