Five Things You Need to Know Today, January 10

Another sunny and mild day is on the docket for Thursday in Wilmington.

1. A mild week in town continues on Thursday. According to Weather.com, temperatures will peak at 44° on Thursday. There is a zero percent chance of rain on the day and skies will be sunny throughout.

2. In case you missed it, a major piece of news came out of Wednesday's School Committee meeting. Superintendent of Schools Joanne Benton announced that the town plans to demolish the Wilmington High School gymnasium over February vacation despite the appeal that is currently before Superior Court. Check back later today for more details.

3. The library has a fire drill planned for tonight. A financial fire drill to be more specific. Jeanne Gibson Sullivan, founder of Financially in Tune, will talk about how to deal with loss of income due to job loss or poor investments and how to manage investments during uncertain market conditions as Wilmington Memorial Library hosts Financial Fire Drill at 7 p.m. Sullivan has almost 30 years of experience in the financial field and has been selected by The Boston Globe to be the financial planner for several money makeovers.

4. No high school games are scheduled for Thursday. The basketball teams get back to work on Friday and both the boys and girls hockey teams hit the ice on Saturday.
