Final Push Restores Wilmington to Full Power After Sandy

Reading Municipal Light Department said in its final update that by late Wednesday the town returned to normal service.

After about three days, Wilmington is no longer in the dark.

During a Thursday morning update, Reading Municipal Light Department said that as of midnight on Wednesday night its entire coverage area had power restored.

RMLD had widespread outages in Wilmington, Reading, North Reading and Lynnfield as a result of downed trees falling on power lines.

A look at the most recent Wilmington police log showed just how much damage was suffered in town during the storm. One of the largest problem areas was near Shawsheen Ave., where tree took down multiple utility poles before landing on a passing truck.
