What are you in the mood for tonight? French onion soup topped with crispy onion rings? A spice crusted rib eye steak? How about a chili so hot it's named "Death Valley"? Head on over to Horseshoe Grille in North Reading, just five miles from Wilmington Center, and enjoy a fabulous meal.
The Horseshoe Grille has been a family owned and operated business since the 1920's and they have always been in the very the same spot--226 Main St. The spot has transformed from a members only social club to a public lounge to a self proclaimed "rib joint". The restaurant was fully renovated in 2004 and now boasts a dining room centered around a stone fireplace, a bar that is packed every weekend and a knowledgeable and friendly staff. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy and the food is to die for.
Homemade cornbread is served with apple butter upon arrival and though it is delicious, don't stuff yourself because there are so many other things to try. The nachos, for instance. Tortilla chips are topped with homemade chili, jalapenos, cheese and fresh salsa with an option of a topping of pulled pork or chicken. Try the aforementioned french onion soup with melted cheese and topped with crunchy onion rings.
One of the Horseshoe Grille's most popular meals is the Panko Crusted Chicken, which is served with garlic smashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. They also feature a fresh fish of the day and if you are craving beef definitely order the rib eye.
