Miceli Vote Independent of Speaker 11.5% of Time

Rep. Miceli claims to be "Independent" -- or almost a Republican! However, the truth is he votes with the Speaker from Winthrop 88.5% of the time. It's Time to Retire One Party Rule!

A 10/1/2012 Beacon Hill Roll Call article by Bob Katzen used 137 key votes from the 2012 session as the basis for an analysis, which said Rep. James Miceli voted with House Speaker Robert Deleo, Winthrop, 88.5% of the time.

“After over 30 years in the legislature, Rep. Jim Miceli’s so called independence can be ranked at a mere 11.5% of the time voting independently from the Speaker. Tewksbury and Wilmington deserve a Representative on Beacon Hill who will be a reliable vote for Tewksbury and Wilmington, not an 88.5% reliable vote for Speaker Deleo.” said Doug Sears, Republican candidate for State Representative against Rep. Miceli.

Sears continued, “Recently, I signed the Good Government Agreement by the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance. This agreement puts in writing my commitment to open, transparent government, responsible spending of state funds, and to debating my opponent several times on the key issues of this race. I hope that Rep. Miceli will also sign this agreement and participate in the three proposed debates in the coming weeks. All of Tewksbury and Wilmington deserve to know how 88.5% with Speaker Deleo shows 100% commitment to Tewksbury and Wilmington.”

Doug Sears is the Republican candidate for State Representative in the 19th Middlesex District. He currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Tewksbury Board of Selectmen, and has previously served on the Tewksbury School Committee. He is a lawyer in private practice out of Tewksbury.
