Reading Co-operative Bank is holding a blanket drive for Mission of Deeds of Reading.

Reading, MA – As the temperature drops Reading Co-operative Bank asks you to think of those less fortunate and donate a new or clean gently used blanket to the Mission of Deeds.  RCB will be holding a blanket drive from October 21st through November 25th; blankets can be dropped off at any RCB office.  The Mission of Deeds is in need of blankets for twin, full, and queen size beds, with an emphasis on twin sized blankets.  RCB has set a goal of collecting 200 blankets and the Reading Charitable Foundation has jump started the drive by donating 50 new blankets.

The Mission of Deeds is a non-profit organization staffed by a group of dedicated volunteers who are located in Reading, Massachusetts. They purchase beds with cash donations and distribute them, along with donated furniture and other household items in good condition, to needy families and individuals living in Middlesex and Essex counties of Massachusetts.  Since their inception in 1993, they have provided assistance to more than 7,000 families who have been referred by social service agencies such as shelters, elder care agencies, and hospitals. Recipients of assistance include individuals and families from diverse ethnic, religious, cultural and racial backgrounds.

“We recently had the opportunity to tour the Mission of Deeds building, during our tour we found that they were in desperate need of blankets.  We immediately knew that RCB could lend a hand by hosting a blanket drive.  We are so thrilled that RCB is so involved in the community and always willing to lend a hand when it is needed,” says Maureen Bernard, Vice President and Judy MacLellan, Senior Commercial Lending Assistant, Co-Chairs of the Blanket Drive Committee.
