Wilmington Residents Share Experiences Using Lynette's Limo Service

We asked our readers on Facebook to share their experiences using Lynette's Limousine Service. Here's what they had to say.

Lynette's Limousine Service, based in Wilmington, was ordered by the federal government to cease all operations on Tuesday, as "its vehicles and drivers pose an imminent hazard to public safety," according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Investigators found that Lynette's failed to inspect, maintain or repair its vehicles, failed to monitor and ensure drivers complied with hours of service requirements and allowed vehicles that had failed inspection to transport passengers.

With Lynette's labeled as an "imminent hazard to public safety" by the U.S. Department of Transportation, we wanted to hear what Wilmington residents had to say about their experiences with the limo service.

We asked on our facebook page and here's a selection of what people had to say:

"Never had an issue, they arrived on time and were very accommodating," reader Mark Cashell.

"Went to a Jimmy Buffet concert long ago, used Lynettes. Driver was in parking lot getting wasted right along with everyone. Thank God we made it home alive. Young and stupid to even get in vehicle. Next day we noticed our belongings were left in vehicle. Went to recover, were told items "were not found" . Yup, ok. Never used them again. Nightmare. She should have gone out of businesses years ago when she was in Burlington!" reader Lisa Marie Valente.

"Used them for airport and pier transportation many times without many issues," reader Diane Cisto Breslin.

"We have used them for years and never had a problem with them. Always on time don't understand what is going on here as the cars were always in perfect condition,
reader James Murray.

"I have had Ignorant drivers In the past," reader Terri Jones Washisko.

"I actually booked the party bus referred to by Lynn, multiple calls to and from Lynette's the night of the prom, at least 2 employees lied to me but the biggest concern was safety; the emergency exit was blocked from the inside, no way to access. The driver clearly was not familiar with the vehicle. Had trouble reaching Marco, the manager, who bold face lied to me! Would NEVER have used them again," reader Laurie MacEwen Hatch.

"Used them for my wedding in 1991. When they were located in Burlington. The driver backed into my dads fence then went the wrong way to my reception," reader Terrijoan Marden Bello.

"Oh boy...our wedding in 2000. Driver picked the bride up 45 minutes late because he was in the wrong town, barely acknowledged it. Then on the way to the reception, he stopped so short in traffic that the whole wedding party was dumped on the floor in one tangled mess. DIDN'T ACKNOWLEDGE IT ALL, JUST PUT THE DIVIDING WINDOW UP. We called the next day to complain and were told "that didn't happen, we spoke to the driver". Still tipped the guy $50 and to this day it still eats at me," reader Nolan Carr.

"We've used them many times and never had a problem. Staff was polite. Vehicles clean. Service was great," reader Stacey Foti.
