Wilmington Gym Continues Keeping Residents Healthy

Live Life FItness has found success in the nearly two years it has been in business.

When Live Life Fitness opened its doors in January 2011, owner Jennifer Stacey knew that the business was destined to be more than simply a fitness center.

Years ago, when she began her career in fitness, Stacey’s priority was to help and to give back to people. A mother of two, she was well aware of what it meant to juggle family and career and knew that, for many people, fitness just wasn’t always a top priority.

Stacey knew that Live Life was going to be a “positive, non-judgmental, inspiring atmosphere” where her clients could not only exercise but learn to love fitness and, at the same time, learn to love themselves. According to Stacey, “It is about so much more than just fitness. It’s about feeling good.”

Stacey knew that she wanted Live Life to become a part of the local community and that she wanted each and every person who walked through the doors to feel comfortable and welcome.

What Stacey didn’t know, however, is just how fast those dreams would come true. Today, Live Life is a growing fitness center boasting a schedule filled with classes to suit almost anyone needs. Equally important to Stacey is what Live Life has been able to give back to the local communities.

Since Live Life opened its doors it's hosted a number of fundraisers including the now annual event for Amanda’s Angels.

“I wanted so much to be able to donate and to give back,” said Stacey. “I know that if I needed help I would want someone to do it for me.”

The latest event planned at Live Life, Zumba for the Cure is a combination of several of Stacey’s favorite things to do. First and foremost “Zumba for the Cure” is a chance to raise money for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk and Debbie Vitale, a local survivor who has battling stage 4 breast cancer, for a number of years.

Next it’s a chance to teach Zumba, which Stacey describes as “an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party.”  Finally, it is an opportunity for the girls to get together and enjoy some socializing, shopping and surprises along the way. Once Zumba winds up Stacey has another, adult class planned. As she mentions, “high heels are optional and it’s all about having some fun.”

Zumba for the Cure takes place October 19 at 7 p.m. For more information you can visit Live Life Fitness  online or like them on Facebook.

The focus at Live Life Fitness, of course, remains total wellbeing and, as far as Stacey is concerned, exercise plays a huge role in wellness. With babysitting available and seven active instructors Live Life Fitness has something to offer everyone who walks in the door. Many of the classes appeal to both men and women and many offer a unique opportunity for families to enjoy fitness together.

The most recent addition to the class line up is TRX Suspension Training. TRX is, as Stacey explained, “Functional Fitness. It’s all about core and stability and being able to lift your own body weight."

Anchored by a 20-foot "A" frame structure, a TRX class at Live Life can accommodate up to ten people at a time. The class is suitable for all levels of fitness and, as Stacey pointed out can become quite addictive.

“No one is very good at TRX when they start,” she joked. “But it makes you want to challenge yourself to get better. Every person that I have introduced it to loves it.”

Also new to Live Life Fitness is a relationship with Douglas White, of White’s Physical Therapy. White recently announced that he will be working alongside the team at Live Life Fitness.

“Being affiliated with a fitness center really allows me to address the whole person from a wellness approach,” he explained.

Dedicated to helping people recover from injury, White is also an advocate of stopping injuries before they happen.

As his recent press release explained, “In addition to treating injuries in the clinic Doug also helps decrease injuries before they happen by offering a variety of strength and conditioning programs geared towards athletes looking to make gains.”

These days Live Life Fitness truly is standing true to its original goal to help its clients find, as Stacey explains, “balance and happiness.”  Stacey continues to work closely with local recreation departments and offers classes that suit a variety of needs.

More than just a fitness instructor Stacey considers herself “a coach working to help others be successful." For more information visit Live Life Fitness online.
