A Wimington company has won a bid to sell explosive trace detectors to a customer in Saudi Arabia, according to a report by the Lowell Sun

Implant Sciences Corporation announced they will sell 11 of their Quantum Sniffer QS-H150 explosive trace detectors to an unnamed customer in Saudi Arabia, according to the Sun.

The detector will be used for  critical infrastructure protection in a multi-layered security environment, according to the Sun.

The device is handheld and utilizes ion mobility spectrometry technology to provide detection of trace amounts of military, commercial and homemade explosives, according to the Sun.

"Our systems perform consistently in environments with wide temperature variations and in windswept and sandy conditions. The ability to perform in these settings is absolutely vital for ETD equipment in the Middle East," stated Implant Sciences' Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Dr. Darryl Jones in a statement.

According to the Sun, Implant Sciences is the only American-owned explosives trace detection company to have product approval from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration.

Implant Sciences is based at 600 Research Drive in Wilmington.
