Penn National Releases First Rendering of Proposed Tewksbury 'Merrimack Valley Casino'

The newly named proposed slots parlor would also include a "Flutie's Sports Bar," named after the former Boston College and New England Patriots quarterback.


Three weeks ago, we reported that Penn National Gaming was proposing a $200 million slots-only casino in Tewksbury at 300 Ames Pond Drive, near the Interstate 495/Route 133 interchange.

The 125,000 square-foot facility would include 1,250 slot machines, with a total 65,000 square-feet. dedicated to gaming.

Merrimack Valley Casino would also include a "Flutie's Sports Bar," thanks to a partnership between the former Boston College and New England Patriots quarterback and Penn National.

The renderings come after representatives from Penn National sought out feedback from Tewksbury residents as to what they would like the proposed slots-only casino to look like as well as what amenities they would like to see included in the facility, according to Jeff Morris, Director of Public Affairs at Penn National.

"We have spent the last three weeks asking local residents what they would like to see and the types of amenities they’d like offered at Merrimack Valley Casino,” Morris said. "We are excited to bring their recommendations to life in a design that fits the town and Merrimack Valley."

More amenities for the proposed facility will be announced in the coming days, according to the release.
