Lorraine Spada School of Dance Under New Ownership

The dance studio is under new leadership after the retirement of 30 year Studio Director Lorraine Spada.

The Lorraine Spada School of Dance, where young dancers have been encouraged to "Sparkle and Shine" over the past 30 years, recently announced new ownership.

Following the retirement of Lorraine Spada, who was the studio director for over 30 years,   Christine Bowman (Ms. Chrissy), who has been a student, former team member, and teacher at the studio for 12 years, has taken on the role as director to Lorraine Spada School of Dance.

The studio, located at 384 Middlesex Avenue, Wilmington, has already been given an exciting make-over and Ms. Chrissy has partnered with other studios in the area to offer a wider range of dance choices.

“I am so excited and grateful to have been given the opportunity to direct a studio that has been a second home to me for so long and where the people are like family,” Bowman said.  “I am looking forward to continuing on all the values and education that Lorraine has instilled in the studio for so many years.”

Lorraine Spada School of Dance, in addition to earning the highest dance honors in competitions, has been involved in the local community through the Memorial Day Parade and various charity events, including fundraising for The One Fund, Jimmy Fund, Wilmington Relay for Life, and Lyrics for Life.

The school prides itself on offering a fun, nurturing, supportive, and creative environment, and ensures costumes, music and movement are all age appropriate.

Newly hired teachers will join the existing talented faculty who are devoted to making their students the best that they can be. Ms. Lorraine, who is relocating to Nevada, said she is “looking forward to seeing everyone in the 2014 recital,” and wishes all her former students a bright future in dance and know they will continue to “Sparkle and Shine” under the new ownership.

“I am anticipating a great new year of exciting changes while keeping traditions, sparkling and shining, and making Lorraine proud,” said Bowman.

Classes begin Monday, Sept. 9-- whether to attain professional perfection or cultural poise and grace. Graded classes include instruction of ballet, pointe, jazz, hip-hop, tap and creative dance.
