Honey Dew Asks Wilmington Residents to Create Shop's Next Donut

The winning donut will be picked on Tuesday and be sold in stores for a few days.

Ever thought of a donut you wish your local shop had for sale? Now's your opportunity.

Wilmington's Honey Dew Donuts, which recently re-opened after closing its doors seemingly for good, is asking its customers to participate in a "Create a Donut" contest.

The winning entry will be chosen on Tuesday, and the designer of the donut will receive a gift card and a free donut when they visit the store.

In addition, the store said the chosen donut will be sold at Honey Dew in Wilmington for several days.

Donut designers can choose from a yeast shell, plain cake, chocolate cake, ring or plain stick donut to start with.

From there, participants can choose a chocolate, vanilla, colored vanilla, strawberry, peanut butter, glaze, or powder to top their donut off. As far as toppings, the possibilities are endless, so the store asks participants to get creative.

After giving your donut a name, designers can enter by stopping at the store or describing it on the Wilmington Honey Dew Facebook page.
