For golfers, the driving range and the course itself are the two places you go to improve your game. But with the recent opening of a Wilmington business, local golfers have a new option to help lower their score.
FitGolf Performance Center opened at 60 Concord Street, Suite F-110, several weeks ago, focusing on physical methods of training with programs that are never alike for two people as they are individually suited for participants’ needs.
Dave PuPriest, the franchise owner of FitGolf Performance Center of the North Shore, said he believes in what his company does because he’s seen it work first hand.
“I’ve used it myself and been seeing the results over the last four years,” said DuPriest. “My game has improved, I’ve dropped my handicap and the game is even more fun to play.”
According to DuPriest, soon after starting training like that offered at FitGolf he won his first tournament and eventually hit his first hole-in-one.
Trainers with FitGolf use the latest in golf technology to assess what needs improvement in the golfer’s swing. There is a 3D swing analysis and also a test that uses technology to determine how golfers shift their weight during their swing.
FitGolf is geared towards hobby golfers, but also course professionals who can use the facility to learn better ways to teach the game.
DuPriest said the most difficult aspect of opening the new business has been getting word out that FitGolf has arrived in the area. He’s been traveling to courses in the area and meeting with the golf pros around the state and also hosted open houses over the weekend.

“What I do now takes my Titlest Performance Institute training to an even higher level. This experience is much more details and tailored to the individual golfer,” said DuPriest. “FitGolf Performance Center brings a unique experience to golfers.”
