Wilmington Students Sending Support to Newtown

A group of students in classes made paper hearts to send to the town impacted by Friday's school shooting.

The town of Newtown, Conn., is still in shock of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday. Residents from across the country have reached out to show their support, and Wilmington students are among them.

Marissa Bortone, a WHS English teacher, took a photo of a group of her Period 7 sophomores cutting out paper hearts to send to Newtown.

She later added that there were plenty other students around town doing the same.

"Many other WHS and Wilmington teachers did this today too," Bortone tweeted. "The idea came from Michael Rickman at the Woburn Street School."
