Thursday Storm to Bring Snow, Freezing Rain to Wilmington

The storm will make for dangerous driving possibly in the morning and evening commutes.

The snowstorm headed toward New England will likely make travel treacherous on Thursday, with snow falling in the morning and possible freezing rain hitting the roads by the evening commute.

The National Weather Service is predicting 5-9 inches of snow for Wilmington falling by sunset.

Snow should begin Thursday morning and change over to sleet and freezing rain on Thursday afternoon and evening. Winds will be 12 to 17 mph with gusts up to 33 mph so power outages are possible.

After nightfall, snow and sleet accumulations could reach one inch. Rain, freezing rain, and sleet are predicted to hit Wilmington until around 4 a.m.
