Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Middlesex County

There is a 90 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in Wilmington on Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service.


The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch through Thursday night for Middlesex County, which includes Wilmington.

The severe thunderstorm watch will be in effect until 10 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

A flash flood watch has also been issued for Middlesex County, according to the National Weather Service, and will remain in effect through midnight. According to the National Weather Service flash flood watch:

"Showers and thunderstorms will continue to increase in areal coverage through the afternoon. A few of the strongest storms will train over the same region producing rainfall rates of 2 inches in less than one hour. This may lead to areas of localized flash flooding."

The National Weather Service is currently projecting a 90 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in Wilmington Thursday night, with a low near 66. Some storms could be severe, with large hail and damaging winds.
