Honda Recalls 886,815 Odyssey Minivans

Honda is voluntarily recalling 886,815 Odyssey minivans to replace a fuel strainer which could cause a leak and increase the risk of fire.

The recall affects model years 2005-2010. The recall is to replace the fuel strainer.

According to a statement from Honda, prolonged exposure to acidic chemicals (like the ones found in car washes), as well as ambient temperatures could cause the fuel strainer cover to prematurely deteriorate and crack. Located at the top of the fuel tank the fuel strainer, if cracked, could lead to a fuel smell or leak fuel in extreme cases increasing the risk of fire.

Honda officials say they are not aware of any crashes, injuries or fires related to the fuel strainer issue.

Honda plans to start making the repairs this summer. Odyssey minivan owners impacted by the recall will be notified between late April and Early May.
