Federal Street Closed For Public Works Projects

Federal Street will be closed for water main work until Friday, Aug. 23.

If you live in the Federal Street area, you may want to plan an alternate route to and from your house over the next few weeks.

The Department of Public Works will be replacing overflow pipes at the Federal Street culvert and conduction water main work, requiring a complete closure of Federal Street at the Maple Meadow Brook stream crossing from Monday, Aug. 12 to Friday, Aug. 23.

Federal Street near the stream culvert will be impassable, and only neighborhood traffic will be allowed during construction, according to the Department of Public Works.

Due to total inaccessibility of Federal Street near the stream culvert, residents will need to plan their route home from the appropriate side of the culvert, according to the Department of Public Works.

These travel restrictions are subject to change during the course of construction, and the Department of Public Works is reminding residents they will have access to their homes at all times, although there might be short delays.
