1. Your 3-day Local Forecast:

  • According to the National Weather Service, there is a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms Wednesday with a high of 83 expected. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Expect an east wind from 5 to 8 mph becoming south in the afternoon and fog before 9 a.m.
  • There is a 60 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms Wednesday night with a low of 70 expected. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Expect a southwest wind 9 to 13 mph. 
  • Thursday there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high of 85 expected. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Expect a west wind around 8 mph. 
  • There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday night with a low of 63 expected. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Expect a northwest wind around 6 mph.
  • There is a 20 percent chance of rain Friday which will be partly sunny with a high near 76.
  • Friday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 62.
2. Reader Comment of the Day: "It didn't seem the same, but I heard many mixed comments from YES, I am glad it's not there to my kids miss it etc....
I think the town should find a suitable spot for the carnival moving forward however it shouldn't be placed in anyone's back yard. I know they want to keep the festivities together but sometimes it's impossible to do so. Why not use the Shiner's land, it seems very large down there and the parking would be just fine....You can still have a band buy renting staging. Also, maybe helping the non-profits out by adding reserved parking people who want a good spot could pay daily maybe $25/day for a spot and it would go to the non-profit of the day or something," reader Stacie commenting on the article, In Absence of Carnival, Attendance Drops at Fun on the Fourth.

3. Today in Public Meetings: Conservation Commission will meet at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium. The Board of Appeals meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled. 

4. It Happened Yesterday: Remember the two individuals who running a human trafficking ring at massage parlors in Wilmington and other surrounding communities? The Medford man and Woburn woman were ordered on Monday to be held on $250,000 cash bail in Middlesex Superior Court. Read more here.

5. ICYMI: In case you missed it, Wilmington Patch caught up with Fourth of July organizer Scott Garrant after this year's Fun on the Fourth wrapped up.
