Running and Yoga, Compatible Companions
Yoga and running seem like polar opposites, but the truth is they compliment each other. A consistent yoga routine can help extend your running practice and prevent you from being on the sidelines from injury. Both yoga and running build strength and endurance and both help with regulating breathing, but where running shortens muscles and puts stress on joints, yoga helps to lengthen muscles. Yoga increases stability and your range of motion. Think about yoga as the balance to running. It helps your body to avoid injury by conditioning it all over, so that when you are out on a tough run, you're not overcompensating on one side or part of your body because another is weak. Support your entire body with yoga and run longer, faster, and safer. Click on the link below to watch Ginger Boermeester demonstrate stretches that will help with your running routine. Until next week, Namaste.
