The Wilmington Democratic Town Committee is hosting its Annual Scholarship Breakfast on Saturday, April 12 from 10:00 AM to noon at Rocco’s Restaurant (193 Main Street). The Town Committee annually provides scholarships to graduating seniors of Wilmington High School and the Shawsheen Valley Technical High School.
After breakfast is served, voters will hear from Democratic candidates for federal, state and county offices. Invited speakers include Senator Ed Markey; Congressman John Tierney and challengers Marisa DeFranco and Seth Moulton; Governor candidates Joe Avellone, Don Berwick, Martha Coakley, Steve Grossman and Juliette Kayyem; Lieutenant Governor candidates James Arena-DeRosa, Leland Cheung, Jonathan Edwards, Steve Kerrigan, and Mike Lake; Attorney General candidates Maura Healey and Warren Tolman; Treasurer candidates Tom Conroy, Barry Finegold, and Deb Goldberg; Secretary of State Bill Galvin; State Auditor Suzanne Bump; District Attorney Marian Ryan and challenger Michael Sullivan; Sheriff Peter Koutoujian, Governor’s Council Eileen Duff; Registrar of Deeds Richard Howe; and State Representatives Jim Miceli and Ken Gordon.
Voters will then have a chance to listen to candidates for the Wilmington Board of Selectmen and the Wilmington School Committee. Invited speakers include Selectman Mike McCoy; Selectwoman Judy O’Connell; School Committee member Ginny Bonish; and School Committee challengers Steve Bjork and Donna Leone. This will be your last chance to hear directly from local candidates before the Town Election on April 26!

Graduating seniors at Wilmington High School and the Shawsheen Valley Technical High School are encouraged to contact their Guidance Offices beginning in mid-April to learn more about the Wilmington Democratic Town Committee Scholarships. In addition to its traditional scholarship offerings, the Committee is offering a new scholarship this year for Shawsheen Tech students who choose to go to work in their trade immediately upon graduation.
