Tuesday, August 14 A Wilmington man was arrested after a woman suffered a drug overdose outside of a King Street home on Tuesday afternoon. Police Lt. Joe Desmond said a call came in at 3:33 p.m. on Tuesday from 29A King Street for a suspected overdose. When officers arrived they found a young female on the ground in front of the house who was, according to Desmond, responsive but “not doing well.” Joshua Kivlehan, 18, of 29A King Street, was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of Class A drugs for allegedly having heroin at the home. It's been a busy week in Wilmington from a state championship to several arrests by local police. Here's a look back at the top stories from the last seven days. Wildcats win first state title. On Sunday, the Wilmington boys hockey team traveled to TD Garden in Boston where a Cam Owens hat trick propelled the team to a 3-2 victory over Franklin. It is the only time in school history the Wildcats have earned top billing in Division 2. Then on Monday, the players were rewarded with a pep rally in front of the entire school. Wednesday, Feb. 8 The Patriots may have lost the Super Bowl to the New York Giants, but it was still a great game for four Wilmington High School graduates who attended the game. Tuesday, Nov. 15 The Board of Selectmen was busy on Monday night, discussing a variety of items that included road salt alternatives and the Olin Chemical Superfund site. As a part of phase one of the salt project, the DPW will continue to use salt as its primary road, treatment but will begin to use a mixture of magnesium chloride and agricultural by-product. The advantage of the new mixture is it is safer for plants and animals, is less corrosive, is more effective at lower temperatures and it has a greater melting capacity than salt. Monday, Sept. 26 The Wilmington Fire Department is looking to earn a significant chunk of change again this year, and they need the town to help them do so. Wilmington is once again participating in Liberty Mutual's fire safety grant competition, and the town hopes to once again win $10,000. Sunday, Aug. 28 Tropical Storm Irene hit Wilmington hard on Sunday, and no one covered the storm like Wilmington Patch. A big reason for that was that our readers interacted throughout the day to provide news items and photos of damage done by Irene.
