Wilmington 7th Grade Blue Travel Basketball

Wilmington 7th Grade Blue win a couple of nail biters.

The Wildcats win at home vs. Methuen 46-44. This was close all the way through. The Wildcats usually score a lot of points in the paint but Methuen had a couple of solid big men that made it real difficult to get clean looks down low. The high scorers for Wilmington were there point guards, Matt Amentola and Graham Smith with 9 each.

Both boys combined were held to only 5 points in the first half. Lucky for the Wildcats, they were able to step it up and finish going down the stretch.

Billy McEvoy led the rest of the scorers with 7 pts., Danny Gracia with 6, Andrew Almeida and Chris Grecco with 4, Andrew Pearson, Joey Rebeiro and Kellan Hardy each with 2.  Mason Vega finished up the scoring with 1 pt.

Joey Rebeiro has been coming on strong defensively.  His speed and quickness has made it very difficult for opposing point guards.  His relentless pressure has either created turnovers or forced the opposition to take very difficult shots.

Wilmington gets a big win on the road beating Dracut 51-46

The Wildcats jumped out to a 30-13 lead at the half. They looked very sharp on both sides of the ball, quieting the over exuberant home crowd. All the boys were playing a part in this excellent 16 minutes of basketball.

The 2nd half was a different story. The Wildcats got sloppy with the basketball turning it over time and time again. The momentum had shifted and Dracut found themselves on a roll. The building got noisy again as the intensity level rose. The Wildcats were able to counter and hold on for the win.

Mason Vega got hot in the 2nd half scoring all 7 of his points, helping the Wildcats to their 11 win of the season. Kellan Hardy had a really nice game as well. He has been coming on of late getting the job done on both sides of the court. He finished with 7 points too.

Congratulations to the 7th grade blue basketball team, their coaches, and the parents that take an interest in their kids and put themselves out to be there for them. Keep up the good work.
