Though they are separated by many miles the Catholic Community of Wilmington and South Tewksbury spanned those miles to touch the heart of the people of Newtown, Conn. During all Masses at both St. Dorothy's and St Thomas's, this past weekend, the congregations of both churches filled condolance books with prayers for healing, words of support, and good wishes during these dark days of sorrow for Newtown, Conn.
Along with the condolence books went this heartfelt letter from the Catholic community.
Dear Monsignor Robert Weiss,
We extend to all of you our prayers support and sympathy at this most extraordinary time of grief and loss. While all human words are inadequate, and all gestures fall short, something powerful speaks comfort, tenderness, and love through the human spirit.
In Christ Jesus we grieve with hope in the face of despair. Please extend from our Community to Yours our deepest condolences and love at this most painful time.
May God's Grace and Peace be with all of you in this Christmas Season, and may all who died truly sleep in heavenly peace.
Sincerely, in Christ, the Lord
The Catholic Community of Wilmington, and South Tewksbury Ma St.Thomas and St Dorothys Parish.
Well over 200 pages of condolences, along with 27 white roses to grace their Sanctuary of St. Rose of Limas Church during this long week of funerals.
