As a light snow fell this past weekend to put folks in the Christmas and holiday  spirit, the Women of Wilmington held their second annual Festival of Trees at St. Thomas Villinova Hall. Over 50 Christmas trees of various sizes, as well as  wreaths  and gift baskets were donated by individuals, families, local organizations, and business and decorated with money, gift certificates, lottery tickets, and many other articles were placed on display and raffled off in this annual fund raiser.

According to Rebecca McGrath who was co-chair of the event, this is one of two  fundraiser that the organization runs, the other being their 5k road race, that raises money for Scholarships adopt a family, and many other projects that benefit the people of Wilmington.

This year the Women of Wilmington gave out $6,000 worth of Scholarships, and adopted eight families with a total of 23 children for the holidays.

As well as trees, and baskets, a choral group made up of the children of the members entertained the crowds with many favorite holiday tunes, and a visit by  Mrs. Claus to meet the children.
