Wilmington PD Takes Five Alleged Drunk Drivers Off The Streets
The following information was supplied by the Wilmington Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Saturday, August 18 to Monday August 20.
Saturday, Aug. 18
10 p.m.: Robert Manzelli, 26, of 32 Brown St., Concord, was arrested and charged with OUI-liquor, after a traffic stop on Houghton Road.
2:26 p.m.: A King Street resident called police and reported that a "Little Giant" ladder had been stolen from his property. He said the value of the ladder was roughly $300.
Sunday, Aug. 19
9:57 p.m.: A King Street resident called police to report that a man had come to her door looking to hire himself out as a mechanic. That man gave the woman a flyer. She said that he appeared to be intoxicated. The woman said she would bring the flyer in to police the day. It was the second such call Wilmington Police had received that evening. At 8:02 p.m., another King Street resident called and reported almost exactly the same experience.
9:17 p.m. Jeffrey P. Dower, 38, 313 Woburn St., Lexington, was arrested after crashing his motorcycle and attempting the flee the scene. He was charged with OUI-liquor (2nd offense), motorcycle equipment violation and leaving the scene of a person injury accident. Dower was the injured party and he was taken by ambulance to the Lahey Clinic for treatment of his injuries.
5:12 p.m.: A woman called police and reported that there was a car parked at the Shell Station on Main Street. She said the driver had his window down and that he was rolling cigarettes and that people were walking up to the car and buying them from him. Officers responded to the scene and found the car but the driver was gone.
12:18 p.m. A caller reported that several antiques had been stolen from a vacant home on Lowell Street. The caller said that the thefts must have occurred some time in the past week. Extra patrols were ordered for the area.
4:04 a.m.: Sean P. Murphy Jr., 24, 36A Burnap St., Wilmington, was arrested after allegedly driving his car into a tree on Shawsheen Avenue and attempting to flee the scene. The accident was reported by multiple 911 callers. Murphy was charged with OUI-liquor, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Murphy was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
1:44 a.m.: Tu Than Le, 25, 59 Milton St., Boston, was arrested after a car crash on Middlesex Avenue. He was charged with OUI-liquor, marked lanes violation and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
2:07 a.m. Vishal K. Patel, 22, 266 Mitchell G Drive, Tewksbury, was arrested after a traffic stop on Main Street. He was charged with OUI-liquor, a marked lanes violation and failure to yield.
