Saturday at 2 p.m.: Governor Deval Patrick announced this afternoon that effective at 4 p.m., he will be lifting the driving ban. Still, be sure to drive with caution.

Saturday at 11:57 a.m.: While the snow appears to have stopped, Wilmington and other towns across the state were indeed slammed by a historic blizzard. According to news reports, in Boston it's the sixth ranked storm in history.

Because of the high snow totals, the MBTA has suspended its Saturday service. It's unclear when trains will be back up and running, but officials are hoping it will be by Monday.

Governor Deval Patrick's executive order banning cars from driving remains in place as of about noon on Saturday.

Updated at 7:33 p.m.: Cumberland Farms is making sure that the few vehicles on the road are fueled up for the long night ahead.

Beginning tonight at 6 p.m. and lasting through 5 a.m. Sunday morning, Cumberland Farms stores that remain open for business will offer a free cup of fresh brewed Farmhouse Blend coffee to all snow plow operators and utility workers, according a press release from the company.

Updated Friday at 5:59 p.m.: In case you missed it, firefighters are currently battling a four-alarm fire at Avalon Oaks that started on a fourth floor deck in the back of the building.

The flames broke out around 4 p.m. and have displaced at least 18 people as Red Cross looks to find hotel shelter for them.

Updated Friday at 12:48 p.m.: Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick announced just after noon that he has signed an executive order that bans vehicles from driving on roads today, effective at 4 p.m.

Updated Friday at 9:57 a.m.: Though the snow hasn't begun to fall yet, a pair of closings have been announced.

Wilmington Memorial Library will be closing at noon, as will Starbucks.

Heav'nly Donuts, on the other hand, announced in a blog post that it will be opening at midnight tonight so it can serve plow crews that are working into the early hours of Saturday morning.

MBTA Shuts Down Friday Service

On Thursday evening, the MBTA announced that it has suspended all of its lines, including bus, T, and commuter rail services, beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Reading Municipal Light Department Prepares for Storm:

“RMLD is well prepared,” said Interim General Manager Kevin Sullivan. “We do not expect this storm to rival the damage suffered from hurricane-force winds and trees laden with leaves.”

Gas Supply Low at Cumberland Farms

As of Thursday afternoon, there was no regular or mid-range gas left at the Cumberland Farms on Route 38. Some super was still available.

• Wilmington Memorial Library announced Friday morning that they will close at 12 p.m. on Friday and also on Saturday.
• Starbucks will also close at noon.
• Wilmington Public Schools will begin on schedule on Friday, but schools will be released early. There is no preschool or kindergarten, and after school programs are cancelled as well. 
• The Wilmington Recreation Department announced on Thursday that all programs scheduled for Friday and Saturday are cancelled.
• Friday's basketball tripleheaders at home and on the road have been cancelled, along with the JV hockey game. The girls basketball games will be played on Sunday, though no date has been decided yet for the boys.
• The girls hockey game scheduled for Saturday has been moved to February 20 at 11 a.m. while the boys game was moved to February 22 at 1:45 p.m.
