Wildcat Teams Hoping to Improve on Fast Starts

Another busy week is ahead for Wilmington High School teams.

Several Wilmington teams are off to fast starts this season, and they look to continue that trend this week with a week of games, many of which are on the road.

The boys soccer team is the only team playing at home on Monday, hosting Wakefield at 6 p.m. as the team hopes to improve on its 3-0-3 start to the campaign. The Wildcats have shut out five straight opponents following a 2-0 win over Melrose in its most recent action.

Meanwhile, the boys golf team and field hockey team travel to Melrose at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, and the volleyball team hits the road to play Hamilton/Wenham at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday's list of action is a bit shorter. The boys and girls cross country teams travel to Stoneham for a race at 3:45 p.m. while the volleyball team hits the road to face Lynnfield at 5:30 p.m.

The golf team is the only Wildcat squad in action on Wednesday. Wilmington's golfers play at Winchester Country Club at 3:30 p.m. against Arlington and Wakefield.

No varsity home games are schedule for Thursday in town. The golf team and field hockey team are the only locals in action as they each travel to play Wakefield at 3:30 p.m.

Mike Barry's football team is off to a 1-2 start following last week's loss to Masconomet. The Wildcats hope some home cooking will get them back on track as they welcome Lexington to Alumni Stadium at 7 p.m.

This week's schedule continues into the weekend with the soccer teams hitting the pitch. The boys team plays on the road at 2 p.m. in Burlington while the girls team plays at home against the same foe.

Is there any way to find out if the majority of the students dressed up as one of the State championship hockey players for spirit week?
