Who Would You Like to See Run for Town Office This Spring?
Residents are beginning to pull papers in advance of Election Day. But in a perfect world, who would be on the ballot?
It's still early, but the ballot is starting to shape up for Wilmington's Annual Town Election.
But in a perfect world, what would that ballot look like?
Among the positions up for election this year are two seats on the Board of Selectmen and two seats on the School Committee.
Chairman Mike Newhouse and fellow incumbent Lou Cimaglia have already pulled papers for re-election. On the School Committee side, Robert Hayes and chairman Peggy Kane are also hoping to earn their seats back for another term.
But if you could choose anyone in Wilmington, who would you like to see run for these and other positions? What resident would be an ideal local official? Or would you be happy if the incumbents all won out?
Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

I'm very happy to see that Mr. Newhouse and Mr. Cimaglia have pulled papers for the Board of Selectmen and that Robert Hayes and Peggy Kane are running for School Committee again. They have all done an outstanding job. I feel very fortunate to live in a town where our public officials are determined to work as hard as they can for our town.

Having worked closely with Lou and Mike, I am happy to know they are both pursuing reelection and they both have my endorsement and support for Board of Selectmen. For School Committee Robert Hayes has impressed me with his commitment and zeal. He has my vote and should have yours.

Three complete disasters? Should the people of Wilmington be asking the question: Have these guys lied to the taxpayers of Wilmington and/or allowed them to be lied to when people were told that the high school project would cost them an additional $162 per year? Since the proposal was first made, has there been three increases in taxes? Should they be allowing major expenditures to occur designing the school when there are environmental matters at hand that are unresolved?
Why are contracts not going out for bid on the central register?
The Town is self insured, Is stop loss insurance not going out for competitive bid?
How about conflict of interest? Should a selectman be elected that has to remove himself from the vote on a Town manager's contract?
Have the voters been provided with a complete list and breakdown of cost for the proposed school? Have these candidates seen the list themselves, or are they just trusting outside sources? Have the voters put in a public records request for this list? Does it exist? http://www.reedconstructiondata.com/rsmeans/models/high-school/massachusetts/boston/ What is 192,443 sq. ft. multiplied by $197/ sq. ft?
Where is all the money going? Is it stuffing the vaults of banking buddies to be used to enrich THEM?

Why change? Wilmington is one of the best run towns in the state thanks to Mr. Newhouse and Mr. Cimaglia. Our schools are second to none. Look at what Mr. Hayes has done to get the new high school completed. Wilmington is lucky to have such outstanding people as public officials.

My saying has always been if it is not broken don't fix it. I think we have an exceptional board here in town. They are on top of all needs for the town. I am very happy to hear the veterns are running again. Keep up the good work.

Got a visit from a "writer" today at work. Surprised to find out he didn't understand the difference between opinion & free speech, & libel....sad.
