What Wilmington Business Were You Sad to See Close in 2012?
During these economic times, businesses come and go all the time. Tell us which ones you were sad to see go in the comments section below.
It was another year of welcomes and farewells for Wilmington businesses.
Among the local shops to close their doors were The Donut Shop, Kendra and Anthony's and K&A Cones.
Though it won't officially close until after the New Year, it was recently confirmed to Patch that Staples will also be joining the list of businesses that will shut its doors.
The Wilmington branch of the chain will close on January 4 as one of 30 across North America to close in an effort to focus on online retail and improve Staples' profitability.
Despite that list of business closings, there was also good news in town. Several businesses also opened their doors, including Fro-Yo to Go, the announced opening of Rizzo's, a new Dunkin' Donuts, and Heav'nly Donuts.
TELL US: What Wilmington business(es) were you sad to see close in 2012? What was your favorite opening? Which ones do you hope will come to town in 2013? Share with us in the comments section below.

IMO, what Wilmington really needs is an all purpose department store( i.e. Target, Walmart, Kohl's). After all, Wilmingtonites ( or is it Wilmingtonians?) need things other than donuts coffee and pizza once in a while.
I've often wondered why Wilmington has not been able to attract these kind of business' ? We certainly have the need and the resources required to host a branch of any major retailer.
I'm perplexed.

Just as a point of information, Target is in the works for Wilmington. But an interesting take nonetheless, Kathy!

I will miss Staples. Sad to see it go. Hopefully something useful willl replace it. No trader Joe's or whole foods. Actually Friendly's would be perfect.

Devastated that Royal Dynasty is gone. I grew up on that and it is the only Chinese food I will eat. So sad!

Another Wilmington Mom
Also sad that Royal Dynasty is gone. Have been going there since the 70's before I lived in Wilmington. Christmas Eve supper from Royal Dynasty was a tradition for my family for the last 20 years! Will miss it.
