Social media is one way we interact with you, answer your questions and get to see what's on your mind. Engagement Weekly is our new twist on Social Media Saturday. We highlight your questions and thoughts you've shared on Facebook and other media throughout the past week, and no we'll also be sharing some top comments from the Wilmington Patch site.

We'll also point you to some new and interesting pages you may not have known about before.

Overheard in Wilmington This Week

Here is a sampling of comments and happenings on our Facebook page and the social media world from the past week:

• The Wilmington Patch Facebook page grows every week! Last Saturday we hit 836 followers, and as of this Saturday we're up to 843 fans. That's an increase of seven fans in the last week. Keep spreading the word so we can reach our goal of and surpass 1,000!
• For our Question of the Day on Tuesday we asked our readers what their favorite and least favorite required reading books in school were. "The Outsiders, horrid book, badly written, predictable, dumbed down to us," said Kimberly Barry Dell'Isola. "I read it before it was 'famous' after the first class, I said to the teacher, 'It reads like a 15 year old girl wrote it.' She laughed, said, 'I knew YOU'd figure that one out.' Favorite, probably Metamorphosis."
• Wilmington residents were in a commenting mood this week on Faceook and Wilmington Patch. On Facebook, our story about how the potential new high school could impact the Fourth of July celebrations generated 40 comments. On the site, it still remains as the top story of the week and it features another 33 comments. Be sure to check out the debate in both locations. 
• Ties aren't always exciting. But on Wednesday, it was thrilling for the Wilmington field hockey team. That's because Watertown is the defending state champion, hadn't given up a goal in a month, and hasn't lost this year. Wilmington went up 2-0 and went on to a 2-2 tie. When we posted this on Facebook, seven people "Liked" it.
• Bruce Hilliard's weekly Viewfinder provided residents with a look at foliage around town. We asked where your favorite spot to leaf peep is. "Woburn Street at Ipswich River. Beautiful," said Martha Delaney. Judy Tipton Lee's choice was Wildwood Cemetery.
• Last week's video of resident Kevin MacDonald being dragged out of Thursday's public forum by police continues to be a hot topic on the site. A total of 49 people have now commented on the article, and 381 readers have voted on the poll. As of Saturday, 178 people think MacDonald should have been removed from the meeting, 192 do not believe so and 11 are undecided.
