Construction is underway at Ristuccia Arena and it's sparked curiosity from Patch readers, several who questioned if a new arena was in the mix for the town.

So just what is being built behind what is, for the time being at least, the official practice facility of the Boston Bruins?

Wilmington Planning Director Carole Hamilton provided the answer, and it is not a new skating rink that will be built.

The land is being developed by Joseph Langone of Northeastern Development. According to Hamilton, a group of “contractor yards” that bring a combination of office and storage space for local businesses are moving into the space.

Hamilton said in many cases zoning does not allow business owners, particularly electrician and landscaping companies, to keep all of their equipment at a home location.

As a result, contractor yards like the one being build behind Ristuccia provide another method for storing trucks and other equipment.

Similar units were recently built behind The Ninety Nine, according to Hamilton.
