Editor's Note: The boys and girls soccer games scheduled for Friday night have been rescheduled.

Because the Division 1 games were moved due to Thursday, the Division 2 games were also changed. The Wilmington boys soccer team will take on North Andover at 3 p.m. before the girls battle Hamilton-Wenham immediately following that tilt.

Original Story: It was one of the most memorable nights in recent memory for the Wilmington High School soccer program.

Both the boys and girls teams needed penalty kicks to advance on Tuesday night, and each was up to the challenge.

Steve Scanlon's boys team played a scoreless regulation and two overtime periods before coming away with a sudden death penalty kick win. Sue Hendee's Lady Wildcats were tied at 1-1 after regulation and double overtime. Though they fell behind in penalty kicks, the team bounced back to win.

The teams will play a semifinal doubleheader on Friday in Woburn. Our coverage doesn't stop here. We will have complete game recaps from both games later on Wednesday, so be sure to check back with Patch for more.
