Vandals Tag 'Brainwashing' at Three Wilmington Churches
The word "brainwashed" was left in red spray paint at a trio of churches on Saturday.

Updated at 6:41 p.m.: Wilmington Police issued a press release on Saturday night and said the vandalism was discovered at about 9:30 a.m. by a priest at St. Thomas.
In red spray paint, "Brainwashing" was stenciled onto statues, and on doors the image was of a television with a brain inside. Red paint was also splashed onto statues outside.
Original Story: A trio of Wilmington churches were vandalized with red spray paint on Saturday morning, WCVB initially reported and a town official confirmed to Patch.
"Brainwashed" was stenciled onto statues, doors and stairs and other church property at St. Dorothy's Church, St. Thomas of Villanova and Wilmington Congregational Church.
According to WCVB, the graffiti was discovered early Saturday morning, just as multiple funerals were about to begin.
The pastor of St. Thomas of Villanova and St. Dorothy's churches, Rev. Philip Early, told the news station, "Acting out accomplishes nothing."
No one at Wilmington Police Department was immediately available for comment. Anyone with information can contact the station at (978) 658-5071.

There were a bunch of people set to clean it up today after the 12pm mass. Father Earley informed them last night that the archdiocese was sending someone to clean it. They cleaned it as best they could overnight. They said the chemicals would not work very well in this cold. They did the best they could but it is still visible.

It isn't just vandals that accuse followers of Jesus about being brainwashed. My own parents said it to me. Make a pure choice to leave the muck and they will feel judged. The fact that things were stolen from church cars more deeply shows their true character, beyond the vandalism itself.
