RMLD General Manager Retiring
General Manager Vinnie Cameron will retire from RMLD early next year.
Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) General Manager Vinnie Cameron recently announced that he will retire in early 2013.
According to a recent press release, Cameron began at RMLD in 1988 as Energy Services Manager. Throughout his career at RMLD, he was promoted to assistant general manager of industrial and wholesale division and acting general manager before he took over his current position in 2003.
“The RMLD’s overall high performance is a direct result of the RMLD’s well-trained, experienced and dedicated workforce, which I have had the honor of managing over the last 10 years,” Cameron said.
According to the release, Cameron is retiring for more than one reason, including other interests.
"My decision to retire is a result of several months of consideration related to the operational status of the RMLD and my desire to pursue other interests,” Cameron stated in a letter to Board Chairman Phil Pacino on July 12.
Pacino said, “I have had the pleasure of serving on the Board since Vinnie's inception as general manager 10 years ago. While I am pleased to see him pursue other interests and opportunities, this is a bittersweet moment for the Board and RMLD. We wish him all the best in his endeavors."
The board is currently seeking a replacement for Cameron, Pacino said.
