Police Log: Theft, OUI and Witness Intimidation

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Friday, May 25 to Sunday, May 27.

Friday, May 25

4:01 p.m.: Caller on Lucaya Circle reported there was a coyote in her back yard. The Animal Control Officer was contacted, though the resident said the animal did not appear to be sick or injured.

6:41 p.m.: An Eastgate Liquors caller reported that a male party entered the store and stole a bottle of wine. Officers checked a nearby vehicle but the occupants were not there. Police spoke with the man's grandparents, who said they will have him call the station. A Wilmington man, 25, was summonsed for shoplifting by asportation.

7:51 p.m.: On Main Street, a two-car motor vehicle crash occurred with no injuries. Heather Rowe, 31, of 137 Aiken Ave. Apt. 2 in Lowell, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor.

10:29 p.m.: Officers were called to Middlesex Ave. for a report of an unruly tenant. Louis Pisapia, 41, of 275 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Bail was set at $545.

Saturday, May 26

1:02 a.m.: A Hathaway Road caller had an animal in his attic that scratched a hole in his ceiling and had a paw sticking through the hole. The homeowner patched the hole in the ceiling and was waiting for a pest control company.

11:17 a.m.: On Taft Road a resident reported that four solar lights were taken from their yard sometime overnight. The value of the lights was about $6 each.

2:29 p.m.: A Woburn Street caller told police a vehicle struck a tree in the yard and fled the scene in an older gold Toyota. There was damage done to the hood of the vehicle. The homeowners were notified and photographs were taken of the damage, but the vehicle was not located at the time.

11:01 p.m.: Police had a vehicle towed from Burlington Ave. The driver was given a civil citation for possession of marijuana, and summonsed for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Sunday, May 27

1:50 a.m.: A possible fight was reported in the street involving two older teenagers. Officers responded to Fairview and Belmont Streets where the fight took place. One of the juveniles was transported to his residence and released to his parents.

3:25 a.m.: Police arrested Daniel Anthony Dellagatta, 24, of 26 Tanglewood Ave. in Tewksbury, for operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation. The passenger of the vehicle took control of the car following the driver's arrest.

7:25 p.m.: Caller reported she was attempting to leave a Cunningham Street residence when the man she was with pushed her against a vehicle. The caller stated that the man then blocked her vehicle from leaving. She was in Tewksbury at the time of the call, so she was advised to come to the station to speak with an officer.

10:14 p.m.: Several residents reported a domestic disturbance on Cunningham Street where a man was holding a female down in the hallway while the woman screamed for help. Joseph Landry, 44, of 18 Cunningham Street in Wilmington, was arrested and charged with assault and battery and witness intimidation.

10:39 p.m.: Complaints of fireworks being set off were called in from Fourth Ave. Police advised the resident not to use the fireworks.

Does anybody wonder why all the police cars are parked in the police station lot in the above picture? This is a regular occurrence on any shift. We then have an article on the Town meeting floor looking to buy new cruisers. I believe it can be best called totally shafting the people of Wilmington!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its called a file photo. Unless you think they send a photographer out each time they run the police log. Here's how it works.... If you run a cruiser 24 hours a day (3 shifts), it'll run out three times as fast as if you run it 8 hours or twice as fast as if you run it 12 hours. So you'll end up buying them 2 or 3 times more often, at the very least. It's simple math, even if you not in the 'highly proficient' part of the MCAS scores.

Or maybe we could use the old cruisers and the old firetrucks to respond to false alarms?

I am tempted to agree that they should not be parked behind the building. Perhaps we should have them cruising all the time, and we should train the cops to get used to hopping into and out of the moving cars.

No, I guess that would not work. I guess it is okay as it is...

I hope that was attempt at humor Mr. sagal...you are also one of the people in town that like to complain about everything...get over it, you are no longer on any board and I believe the town of Wilmington is one of the best run towns in the state. Do you agree??? I already know the answer...
